The Supreme Court on Monday refused to accept the Center’s sealed cover note on its position on the delinquency of 1 Rank 1 Pension (OROP) for former military personnel.

“We need to put an end to this sealed cover-up practice in the Supreme Court…This is fundamentally against the basic process of fair justice,” said Chief Justices DY Chandrachud and PS Narasimha. said J.B. Pardiwala’s bench.
“I personally dislike sealed covers. There must be transparency in the court… this is about the execution of orders. What could be secret here?” said CJI.
The bench is currently listening to the Indian Ex-Military Movement (IESM) plea regarding the payment of OROP dues.
On March 13, the Supreme Court sharply criticized the government for “unilaterally” deciding to pay OROP membership fees in four installments.
The Department of Defense recently filed an affidavit and compliance note with the Supreme Court showing the schedule for payment of late fees. ¥28,000 kroner for former military personnel from 2019 to 2022.
