Parts of Anna Maria Island and Siesta Key may soon be welcoming travelers back, as Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport recently added several more flights and several local businesses are expanding their operations at the airport.
On their way to their gates, travelers can dine at Ana Maria Oyster Bar or Patrick’s 1481, or stop by the Shops at Siesta Key. Residents can get a glimpse of what’s to come with the $200 million airport expansion project currently underway.
National Brands Pete’s Space will also be built within the new terminal, which is currently under construction.
The building permit for the Anna Maria Oyster Bar lists the project as a “bar to be constructed within the new terminal” with an estimated cost of $1.3 million.
As the name suggests, AMOB’s menu includes a wide variety of casual dining items, including seafood such as oysters and fresh fish, as well as burgers and sandwiches. They also have a wide selection of alcoholic beverages, with a focus on cocktails such as margaritas.
The growing local restaurant opened its first Sarasota County location this spring, bringing its popular chain to six locations, as previously reported by the Herald Tribune.
Popular burger restaurant Patrick’s 1481 is also slated to open in the new terminal, which is estimated to cost $2.3 million, according to building permits.
Construction of The Shops at Siesta Key is estimated to cost $1.1 million. The retail store will also incorporate a coffee concept.
Previous coverage:A roughly $100 million terminal expansion is scheduled for SRQ this summer.
Construction of the Peet’s Coffee and retail store will cost approximately $1.6 million.
All permits are under review by Sarasota County.
The airport’s president and CEO, Rick Piccolo, indicated in March that Mattison’s could join other local businesses at the airport, but the restaurant has not yet applied for a building permit.
Piccolo said he is excited about the new offerings, including new local brands, that will open in the new terminal.
“Not only will this bring jobs and economic benefits, it will also expose our local brand to visitors who will hopefully utilise facilities across the region during their stay,” he said.
