Rosie O’Donnell has spoken out about the difficult time her family is going through following the arrest of her daughter Chelsea.
Chelsea Belle O’Donnell, 27, was arrested in Wisconsin on September 10 and charged with felony child abandonment and drug possession.
O’Donnell, 62, wrote on Instagram on Saturday, along with a photo of her daughter from “the better days”: “Sadly, this is nothing new for our family. Chelsea has been battling drug addiction for 10 years. We all hope our daughter can be her.” she will find a way out of this deadly disease #💔 #love#alanon 10.19.24. ”
Chelsea was released in September after posting $2,000 bail. people Magazine coverage. She was booked into the Oconto County Jail on October 11 and remains in custody.
She was initially charged with child neglect, methamphetamine possession and maintaining a drug trafficking place, according to court records cited by People magazine.
She was also charged with possession of THC, drug paraphernalia, possession of illegally obtained prescription drugs, and disorderly conduct.
On Oct. 11, her new charges included felonies of methamphetamine possession, drug possession, bail jumping, resisting/obstructing an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Chelsea is next scheduled to appear in court on November 4th.
One of Rosie’s five children, Chelsea is Rosie’s adopted daughter with ex-wife Kelly Carpenter.
Over the years, Chelsea and Rosie’s relationship has had its ups and downs. In 2015, Chelsea ran away from home and moved to Wisconsin to live with her mother. O’Donnell announced in 2018 that they were back together.
