Robert Englund and Heather Langenkamp celebrate 40th anniversaryth The anniversary of the release of their iconic film A Nightmare on Elm Street.
“Extra” spoke with Robert and Heather as they reflected on the impact the film had on their lives and generations of fans.
“I think we’re approaching the third generation of fans now,” Robert said.
Heather added, “Maybe the fourth one. I met my great-grandmother.”
Robert and Heather have been friends ever since they appeared in the movie. She said: “There’s no one on earth who understands what it’s like to be a part of this series, and we share so much of it.”
The film was made on a budget of just over $1 million and was shot in the summer of 1984. As of today, the film has grossed nearly $500 million worldwide.
“A Nightmare on Elm Street” was Johnny Depp’s first acting job, in which he played one of Freddy Krueger’s victims.
With so many loyal fans, Freddy fandom isn’t going away anytime soon.
Heather said, “I’ve seen it at least 20 times in the theater and dozens of times at home.”
To celebrate the 40th anniversary, A Nightmare on Elm Street (40th Anniversary Ultimate Collectors Edition) will be released on October 25th.
