“America’s Got Talent” season 19 champion, golden-piped janitor Richard Goodall, is living the dream life.
Extra’s Teri Seymour spoke to Richard about his big win, and he said of the experience, “I can’t put it into words. I used to use the word ‘surreal,’ but now it’s beyond surreal.”
Goodall had the opportunity of a lifetime to perform together in the Journey finale, and says it was something he never dreamed of.
He said: “Everyone has a bucket list. And then there are bucket lists that you don’t know about. I’m interested in the bucket lists that come with all of this that you don’t know about.”
It’s an exciting time for Richard, who just got married during the competition, and said his wife Angie was “delighted” with his win.
Talking about what he plans to do with his $1 million prize, he said: “The possibilities are endless. My girlfriend and I want to buy a house, so we’ll think about that.”
“I never dreamed that the words Richard Goodall and billionaire would ever be used,” Richard emphasized.
Richard acted as Heidi Klum’s golden buzzer and revealed what he said to her as she ran onto the stage to celebrate.
“She said, ‘I always knew you could do it,’ and I said, ‘Thank you for being my advocate.’ She was with me every step of the way,” Goodall recalled.
Richard never imagined he’d win the show: “I just wanted to get on a plane, sing a song, go home and hope someone would watch my YouTube videos. I never dreamed it would happen,” he said.
Goodall said it was “amazing” that millions of people watched his performance.
Terry also spoke to Heidi, who was “glowing” with pride at Richard’s win.
She said: “I’m so proud of him and I’m so glad America feels the same way I did when I first met him. There’s something special about him, he was so shy just standing there on stage. He was such a humble guy and when he expressed himself freely he turned into a rock star and people saw that and voted for him.”
Klum also showed off some “pretty ugly” Halloween costumes, which included her husband, Tom Kaulitz.
She commented: “I already feel so sorry for my husband as it’s a couples costume and you have to be pretty tough to wear it… I don’t know who could keep it on for long.”
Heidi praised Tom for being a “good sport” as the costumes can often be “claustrophobic”, adding: “It’s hot, it’s noisy, you can’t hear anyone, it’s hard to eat or drink. You’ve got to be pretty hardcore to really tackle this.”
