A TikToker video of a restaurant playing the national anthem has sparked controversy on popular social media platforms.
Paulina (@paulinappa_0) shot the video at the Rainbow Oaks Country Market in Fallbrook, California. In this video, several diners stand up in honor of the song. She found the situation “dangerous” and several other TikTok users of hers shared similar experiences they had at other restaurants.
@paulinappa_0 The most dangerous situation ever # God Bless America # take out #illegal #white people ♬ Original Sound – Paulina
The clip begins with Paulina recording pancakes and then the interior of a restaurant. She remains seated at the front of her meal as other patrons stand up and salute the flag as the “Stars and Stripes” play on the store’s loudspeaker. Her camera pans to a wall-mounted television that displays her graphic of an animated American flag fluttering in the wind.
The post’s caption reads, “I’ve been in the most dangerous situation ever,” followed by the hashtags “#getout #illegal #whitepeoplethings.”
One commenter said this was not a unique experience for Paulina’s restaurants.
Another visitor to Mission BBQ as a customer experienced a similar situation and did not get along with them. ”
Others agreed that they found the situation very uncomfortable as well.
One commenter couldn’t understand why a restaurant would do such a thing. Or did it just randomly start playing and everyone woke up reflexively?? Wild. “
This isn’t the first time a restaurant has gone viral after videos of employees and customers standing up in honor of the national anthem were posted online. The Mission BBQ is said to take place daily at 12pm.
a Editor I also uploaded a video of the anthem session for the Mission BBQ.
However, another claimed otherwise, as the headline of the Reddit post was “misleading” and indicated that the chain would “wake up” the national anthem in honor of people. I’m here. I have one and this happened when it first opened. The headline is misleading. No one “makes you”. There was an announcement, and I think about half of the people participated. That being said, it was strange to watch.
The Barn Mission BBQ continued the tradition of the national anthem, even as government-mandated stay-at-home orders and social distancing protocols were implemented in response to the frenzy surrounding COVID-19, it reported. The restaurant made a statement on its Facebook post about its dedication to the practice. Unless you congregate at the 93 spot, the Mission BBQ takes 2 minutes of his day to salute the flag and country in honor.Live streaming of national anthem Facebook page, at noon every day until this crisis passes … because we are free and we can. ”
Rainbow Oaks Country Market Restaurant is also listed via facebook They play the national anthem every day at noon. Along with the announcement, the brand attached an image of actor Gary Sinise speaking into a microphone, discussing the importance of the American flag. So in honor of them and those who fight to defend that flag and what it stands for, I stand up and put my hands on my heart.”
Uploaded by Paulina responseto a user who told her via TikTok, “If you don’t like it here, I’m sure Africa will bring you back.”
The Daily Dot reached out to Rainbow Oaks via email and to Paulina in a TikTok comment for more information.
