Former Maryland governor and Republican Senate candidate Larry Hogan faced criticism from Republican lawmakers for comments he made about the conviction of former President Donald Trump on Thursday.
“The former president and presumed Republican presidential candidate was found guilty Thursday of all 34 first-degree charges of falsifying business records after two days of jury deliberations.
“Whatever the outcome, I ask all Americans to respect the verdict and the legal process. At this dangerously divided moment in history, all leaders, regardless of party, should not add fuel to the fire with even more poisonous partisanship,” Hogan wrote on X.
“We must reaffirm the rule of law that has made this country great,” he said.

Chris LaCivita, a senior adviser to the former president and his campaign, responded to the post, saying, “You just finished campaigning.”
Hogan, a moderate and former Republican governor, is seeking to succeed longtime Democratic Sen. Ben Cardin, who is retiring from Maryland, a Democratic-leaning state.

“I still think Larry Hogan is going to flip Maryland. Larry Hogan is going to campaign and he’s going to run the election. President Trump is going to campaign. I thought the trial was a complete sham,” Daines told Fox News.
