Regrets of those who did not seize youthful opportunities

We are often told to live without regrets, but I’m sure everyone has one or two things they regret doing (or not doing). In this thread, we asked people, “What do you regret not doing when you were younger?” And the reaction was very relatable. Here’s what some people have shared.

1.

“Be sociable and give your interests a chance.”

2.

“I was so focused on my appearance that I turned down invitations and opportunities to meet new people and travel to new places. I was very hard on myself, and I apologize to her.”

3.

“I became a teenager. I was so eager to be an adult that from the age of 15 to 25 I was mostly focused on work, so I missed out on everything.”

Four.

“It’s therapy. I should have started it at 14 instead of 24. That would have prevented most of the stupid things I did.”

Five.

“Here are some ways to do it: Make working out a hobby, take care of your skin, use moisturizer and sunscreen. Take better care of your teeth, spend more time with your parents, and enjoy the moment. Document it with photos and videos.”

7.

“Looking back on how stupid I was to not realize how many opportunities there were, I now realize that the girls sent me a heavy signal to take action.”

9.

“I’m focused on my studies and going to college to do what I really want to do. I’m 34 years old and make $150,000 a year, but I feel like my career is a huge waste of time. I’m working overtime and traveling, and as a result, I’m losing my life. It’s not just business that they’re cracking down on me. I hope to be able to enroll next year with a master’s degree in psychology to become a therapist. “Sacrificing my life for a check is bullshit. I don’t have kids, and I’m newly single, so now’s the time.”

Ten.

“Being a better boyfriend to the amazing girls I dated when I was younger.”

11.

“Be confident in making your own decisions and don’t rely on the ‘encouragement’ of others.”

12.

“I spent more time with the animals, how they disappeared earlier than I expected, how I complained about walking the dog, how I skipped my horse riding lesson because I was too busy moping in my room. I regret it every time. Let’s be grateful to them while they’re there.” If not, you’ll regret it forever, just like I did. ”

13.

“I tried too hard to keep friends when they took advantage of me or took advantage of my kindness. I learned that not everyone wants to be your friend, and I’m okay with that.” it’s okay.”
