The bond between Ralston’s teachers and 5th grade students is stronger than ever. Janice Rose mourns the loss of a boy. He recently passed away after dealing with a rare heart problem. But about a month earlier, 5th grader Adriana Case made a big offer to help. It had been about two weeks since Rhodes lost a large part of her world, her five-and-a-half-month-old son Caden, suffering from hypoplastic left heart syndrome. “He only got a few months of it,” Rhods said. Said Caden passed away on November 17th. at Ralston. Up until this semester, she has spent a lot of time outside of the classroom being with her Caden. Rose’s student, Case, became aware of Cayden’s affliction about a month before he died, and decided she wanted to do what she could. “I got him a blanket, but he started a GoFundMe because he felt it wasn’t enough,” she said. With his mother’s help, Case created his GoFundMe so he could raise $2,000 for his favorite teacher. I thought it would be around $2,000 instead of $2,000,” Case said. “I really love her,” Case said of Rose, who will return to her job on Monday. She doesn’t think she could have made it without great students like Adrianna.
The bond between Ralston’s teachers and 5th grade students is stronger than ever. Janice Rose mourns the loss of a boy. He recently passed away after dealing with a rare heart problem. But about a month ago, her fifth-grader Adrianna Case stepped in to help in a big way.
It’s been about two weeks since Rhods lost a big part of her world.
“I remember his smile. Honestly, I’m thinking of him at peace right now,” Rose said.
Her five-and-a-half-month-old son Caden suffered from hypoplastic left heart syndrome.
“His life was filled with pain and hospital stays. He was happiest when he was outside, and he only got a few months,” Rose said. “Out of the five and a half months he was alive, he was home two months.”
In November, Caden caught a cold that caused a fever and increased heart rate.
“Everything escalated quickly,” says Rhods.
Caden passed away on November 17th.
“All of that combined, they think his heart was overworked. His heart was very fragile,” Rose said.
Rhods teaches fifth grade at Karen Western Elementary School in Ralston. So far outside of the classroom she’s spent a lot of time being by Caden’s side.
“You are going to be there for your son and the other two children I have at home.
About a month before Caden died, Rhods student Case realized the struggle and decided he wanted to do what he could.
“I got him a blanket, but I felt like it wasn’t enough, so I started a GoFundMe,” Case said.
With her mother’s help, the case go fund meraised $2,000 for your favorite teacher.
“I thought it wouldn’t be $2,000. I thought it would be in the hundreds,” Case said.
For Rhods, all these pleasures are more than money.
“It’s about what she did to show compassion and concern for others.
“I really love her,” Case said of Rose.
Rose said she would return to work on Monday. I don’t think she would have made it without her amazing students like Adrianna.
