The New York Times Just dropped: ‘‘Immediate threat’ discovered at Boar’s Head plant two years before deadly Listeria outbreak
U.S. inspectors listed serious problems in 2022 that could lead to severe measures, such as halting production, but the factory continued to operate and some of the conditions persisted.

Two years before the deadly Listeria outbreak, U.S. inspectors warned that conditions at the Boar’s Head plant posed an “imminent threat” to public health, citing widespread rust, exposed delicatessen meats in wet ceilings, blue mold and holes in the walls.
However, the USDA did not impose any severe action against the Jarratt, Virginia, plant, which could range from a warning letter to a shutdown.
Please, where was the food safety culture, where was the common sense at Boar’s Head, where on earth was FSIS? The public deserves and will get answers.
