Ben Cohen, one of the co-founders of ice cream company Ben & Jerry, was arrested Wednesday afternoon at Capitol Hill at a Senate hearing that included Robert F. Kennedy Jr., director of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
The Capitol Police (USCP) confirmed Tuesday afternoon that Cohen had been arrested among seven people after disrupting the hearing. Cohen was arrested only on suspicion of obstruction, but others involved in the protest were arrested for resisting arrest and assaulting police officers, Capitol police said.
However, the number of people charged with more serious offences is unknown.

“RFK will kill those with hatred!” protesters cried during the hearing as Kennedy issued his opening statement.
“RFK will kill those with hatred!” The chant continued, with more voices participating. “RFK kills people who have hatred!”

Multiple people are eventually escorted from the room, Senator Bill Cassidy, r-la. The chairman (help) of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions suspended the hearing.
In the video Of the confusion posted to X by the Daily Caller, Cohen can be seen being forced to pull out of the hearing room by Capitol police officers.

“Audience members remind us that no confusion is permitted while the committee is doing its business. Capitol police are asked to take individuals out of the hearing room,” Cassidy said Cohen was being contested from the room.
“It was a C-Span moment that was made,” Cassidy munched after things settled down.

Wednesday wasn’t the first time Cohen was arrested while protesting in the country’s capital. In 2023 he was arrested outside the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to block entry Ministry of Justice (DOJ) In a Washington, D.C. building, he was protesting Julian Assange’s detention.
Ben & Jerry is often a Republican target and a Republican target, who denounce the company and its founders for progressive activities and support from politicians. So are they Frequent critics of Trump.

Ben & Jerry’s has been known for his left-leaning advocacy since its founding in 1978, and the Vermont-based ice cream maker was able to continue his progressive efforts to maintain an independent board of directors, even after it was sold to Unilever in 2000.
One of these moments included the decision of Ben & Jerry in 2021 that ended the sale of the product to Israelis in the West Bank.
