Prince William is having fun with his star-studded pals in South Africa!
On Thursday, Prince William hosted Heidi Klum, Toby Nwigwe and Winnie Harlow for a traditional South African seaside barbecue called a braai at Kalk Bay Harbor to celebrate winning the Earthshot Award.
William established the award in 2020.
Heidi posted a video of her barbecue and wrote: Instagram“Learning about sustainable fishing @princessandprincessofwales Lunch with @abalobi_app. Supporting local fishermen and fishermen 🐟🌊🌍@earthshotprize ❤️”
Before breaking bread together, the Prince spoke to local fishermen at the port about the contribution of Abalobi, a 2023 Earthshot Prize finalist, and was also welcomed by local residents.
Local resident Kate Wardle welcomed William with several gifts. she shared with people Magazine “I bought some from a local lady who sells beaded keychains here. They had a W and a C and three others for the kids. I said, ‘If you don’t mind, here they are. ” he said. he said thank you. And, “Never go home empty-handed! ”
She said: “He was a very natural, relaxed and down-to-earth guy. He must have been very tired this week, so we appreciate him being here. We asked him to visit us in Kalk Bay. It means a lot to us here.”
The day before, Heidi presented the charity with a £1 million award at the Earthshot Awards ceremony, which celebrates its environmental work.
On Wednesday, she told People magazine: Who knew there was a sustainable fishing industry? It was a great honor to go to this place with him and learn about sustainable fishing. I knew that our waters were being overfished and polluted and all these horrible things were happening. But I didn’t know about sustainable fishing. I hope I can learn more and do better in the future. Also, I love playing my role. We all have to play our part. ”
That same night, Prince William gave an update on Kate, Duchess Kate, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
He told reporters: “She’s doing really well, thank you.” Hopefully she’s watching tonight and cheering me on… She’s been great this whole year. I know she really wants tonight to be a success. ”
