Prince Harry was founded in 2006 to honor their mothers Princess Diana and Queen Mamohat, leaving his position as a patron of his charity Centeber, created by Harry and Prince Siso of Lesotho.
Harry and Sheeso are resigning as charity leadership faces several controversy and is being investigated by the UK’s Charity Commission.
In a statement, Harry and Sheeso said: “I can’t imagine what’s going on. We’re shocked that we have to do this, but we share all our concerns with the Charity Committee about how this happened, as we have an ongoing responsibility to the beneficiaries of Centebert.”
“Nearly 20 years ago, we founded Centebert in honor of our mother,” their statement continued. “Centeber means “forgetting” in Sesotho, a local language in Lesotho. That is something we have always promised for the young people we serve through this charity. Today is no exception. ”
The charity was established to support young people in Lesotho and Botswana who suffer from health issues such as HIV/AIDS, wealth inequality and climate resilience.
According to Harry and Sheeso, they had to make tough decisions due to the worsening relationship between the charity councillor and chairman Dr. Sophie Chandouka.
They said, “With a heavy heart, we have resigned from our role as patrons of the organization until we were solidarized with the Council, where we had to do the same. It is devastating that the relationship between the charity trustee and the board chair has led to an unrepairable situation.”
Dr. Chandouka and things got ugly.
Harry and Shiso explained: “These councillors acted in the best interests of the charity and asked the chair to resign with the happiness of its staff in mind. They then appealed to the charity to remain in this voluntary position and to further emphasize the broken relationship.”
“We may not be patrons anymore, but we will always be its founders,” the two royals emphasized.
Dr. Chandouka shares her own side of the story. NBC News“Everything I do at Centebert is pursuing the organization, its mission and the integrity of the youth we serve. There are people in this world who act as if they were abusering people beyond the law, play victim cards, and use the very press to drive them away to hurt those who have the courage to challenge their actions.”
Dr. Chandouka was the person who went to the Charity Committee to report misconduct by board members.
She said, “Under all the stories and fiction of the victims, syndicated to the press, the fiction is the story of a woman who blows whi on issues of poor governance, abuse of weak management executives, bullying, harassment, misogyny, misogyny and subsequent cover-up issues.
Some board members have also been responding to Harry’s resignation and the drama with Dr. Chandauka, telling NBC News:
They said, “We were unable to allow Centeber to assume its legal and financial burdens and could not leave any other options other than to vacate our position.
Regarding the Charity Committee, they are conducting the investigation by saying, “We can confirm that we are aware of Centeber’s governance concerns and are evaluating the issues to determine appropriate regulatory measures.”
