Prince Harry is waging a fierce battle against the British tabloids!
Prince Harry spoke about his hatred for the tabloid press in an interview with Britain’s ITV for the documentary “Tabloid Trials.”
Prince Harry, who received $180,000 in damages for his phone-tapping case, says he has no regrets about standing up to the system, given what his late mother, Princess Diana, endured at the hands of the press.
Prince Harry believes Princess Diana was probably one of the first people to be hacked in the ’90s.
He argued: “But even today the press, the tabloids, are keen to portray her as paranoid, but she was not paranoid. She was absolutely right about what was happening to her, and she is not here today to find out the truth.”
Prince Harry has appeared to criticise his brother, Prince William, for recently describing their late mother as delusional.
In the documentary, Harry says, “I think paranoia is a very interesting word because, yes, it may be a delusion, but being proven innocent proves that I wasn’t delusional.”
Prince Harry also explained that his battle with the tabloids has further deepened the rift between him and his father and brother in the royal family.
He said: “Yes, it’s certainly a central part, but it’s a difficult question to answer because anything I say about my family will expose me to a barrage of criticism from the press.”
“I’ve been very clear that this is something that needs to be done,” Harry added. “I would love to do this as a family. And again, I believe that in a position of service and in a public capacity, these are things that should be done for the benefit of society as a whole. But I’m doing this for my own reasons.”
“For me, it’s an ongoing mission, certainly. It’s caused some of the rifts, as you say,” Harry pointed out.
