Olivia Cooke stunned in a Loewe dress on the red carpet at the House of the Dragon season 2 premiere in New York City.
Extra’s Mona Kosar Abdi spoke with Olivia, who hinted at where her character, Alicent Hightower, may be after she put her son, Aegon II, on the throne and after her other son, Aemond, killed Raynera’s son, Lutharis.
Cook admitted that Alicent is “extremely scared” about what’s to come, saying, “Her son has just brutally murdered Rhaenyra’s son, she knows she’s on the brink of civil war, and the Targaryen family and kingdom are on the verge of splitting in two.”
Olivia noted that Alicent is also coming to terms with her place in the situation: “She’s just put her son on the throne and she’s just usurped Rhaenyra. She was queen and one of the most powerful people in Westeros. Now that power has shifted and I think she’s coming to terms with who she is without that position.”
Olivia also said she doesn’t think Alicent and Rhaenyra will ever recover from what happened.
“I think she always knew Aemond would rebel one day,” she mused, “and I don’t think she thought of it that way. Besides, Alicent’s bond with Rhaenyra has already been cauterized and severed. How can you recover from that when your own son kills the son of your former best friend? I don’t think you can.”
Cook also had praise for “Game of Thrones” star Alfie Allen, who co-starred with him in “The Visitation,” saying: “That was absolutely amazing. He’s incredible.”
Olivia said she’s received “great advice” from her fellow Game of Thrones stars, saying, “They listen to all my existential questions, so they’re amazing.”
She called the fan response to “HOTD” “really amazing” and “amazing,” adding that it’s “different than anything I’ve ever experienced before, it’s more extreme, but it’s really lovely.”
“House of the Dragon” Season 2 will premiere on Max on June 9th.
