Two people were killed and four others injured in a shooting early Sunday morning in Ocala, Florida, officials said.
Around 4:30 a.m., shooting occurred in an area near the 1600 block on Southwest Fifth Avenue, where a crowd of about 100 people had gathered. Police said in a news release.
Dabonta Harris, 30, and Abdul Hakeem Van Kuroski, 24, have been identified by police as two of the victims. is stable.
“Detectives are investigating the crime, are working diligently to identify the facts behind the fatal shooting, and are actively looking for clues,” the Ocala Police said.
“Many people are devastated and heartbroken by the tragic events. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this horrific act,” police said. .
Ocala is about 75 miles northwest of Orlando.
Hours earlier, a 24-year-old man was killed and nine others injured in a New Year’s Eve shooting in Mobile, Alabama, police said. The shooting occurred just blocks away from where people were gathering for the city’s New Year’s Eve celebrations.
