Buccaneers cornerback Zion McCollum suffered a concussion in the first half of Sunday’s 37-20 win over the Commanders, but another Buccaneers starter was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday.
Right tackle Luke Goedeke was a surprise addition to the injured list on Wednesday. He participated in part of Wednesday’s practice and showed symptoms of a concussion, which led the team to place him in the protocol. His concussion likely occurred during Sunday’s game.
If Goedeke is unable to play Sunday, the Buccaneers are expected to start right tackle Justin Skull against Detroit. Both Goedeke and McCollum were listed as limited participants on Tampa Bay’s injury report on Wednesday.
Buccaneers players on the mend
Cornerback Zion McCollum may be more likely to play this week against the Lions than right tackle Luke Goedeke despite being concussed. Both backs will need to pass concussion testing later this week to be eligible to play. against the Lions.
The good news for Tampa Bay was that backup defensive tackle Logan Hall returned to practice on a limited basis. Hall has a foot injury that caused him to miss Sunday’s season opener against Washington. Starting defensive tackle Kalijah Kansey missed the Commanders game with a calf injury and did not practice Wednesday.
