Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber sat down with Extra’s Melvin Robert to talk about “The Perfect Couple,” a new murder mystery series based on the novel of the same name by Elin Hilderbrand.
In the show, Nicole and Reeve play Greer Garrison and Tug Winberry, a wealthy couple whose son is getting married on the island of Nantucket. The day takes a dark turn when a body is discovered on the shore just hours before the ceremony.
Regarding the show’s title, Nicole said, “I think the title… is meant to lure the audience in and take them on a wild journey.”
Schreiber argued that perfection doesn’t exist, explaining, “Anytime you see the word ‘perfect,’ always be careful. This is probably a cautionary tale, and I think this is one of those.”
Speaking about their on-screen relationship, Reeve said: “There’s a lot of passion and intensity in this relationship and we’ve been through a lot over a long period of time. How are you going to get through all of that if you don’t share some passion and a common story?”
Nicole added, “And we dance, like couples do. I don’t know why people are together… I always say that about couples, so you shouldn’t interfere in people’s relationships because you don’t actually know what they’re really going through or how they get through it.”
Nicole revealed that it’s a common theme among other couples on the show: “That’s evident throughout the show… as the layers are peeled back, things become clear,” Nicole said.

“The Winberrys remind me a little of Macbeth, because they absorb each other’s sins,” Schreiber said of the Winberrys.
Plus, Nicole and Reeve actually performed a dance during the show’s epic opening credits, with Reeve saying she gave it her all for the made-for-TikTok moment.
“I knew it would be amazing for kids to see me doing stuff like TikTok dances,” he said, adding that he “can’t wait” for his kids to see it.
“I knew it then and there,” Kidman said of the scene, revealing that it also had a connection to Taylor Swift.
“There were Taylor Swift dancers on the beach,” she said.
“The Perfect Couple” is available to stream on Netflix.
