Nick Cannon has opened up to Extra’s Billy Bush about hosting ‘Beat Shazam’ after Jamie Foxx stepped down due to health issues.
Cannon also talked about what he wants for Father’s Day and revealed about Wild’n Out Season 20.
Speaking of “Beat Shazam,” Nick said: “Actually, I was working on something else, and they said, ‘Jamie wants you to do this.'” I thought…I got a blessing from him and Colin [Foxx]”
He continued, “One of the things I’ve always admired about Jamie’s attitude throughout his career, as you may have noticed, is that he’s always been very professional and very private. I mean, to hear nothing but the fact that he’s done a great job professionally and that he handled the situation in the same way, that’s something you have to respect.”
Billy said, “I understand he had a stroke and is recovering. But you know, I’m kind of confused… can I give you an update on how he’s doing? Do you know?” Do you have?”
“As a friend, I am probably in the same position as you in that I know to be as respectful as possible and not to pry. And in this scenario, what I’ve always said is, “Hey, I’m here for you, what you want me to say, what you want me to do.” I can be an advocate for whatever I am.” And I think they said, “Okay.” ”
He further explained: “The information that is out there is the information that they want to be out in the world… I was definitely one of those people who started out as a heavy-handed prayer… positive energy, love, prayer. And they were like, “Oh, thanks for everything, but I get it.” And as you know, Jamie is happy with the work I did on Beat Shazam. ”

“When he is ready, I believe he will speak to his waiting fans around the world in a way that only he can,” said Nick.
Billy talks about playing pickleball at Jamie’s house and Nick says he’s not athletic. “I’m a daddy athlete who can play with the kids…I work out to stay fit. So I go to the gym five days a week, but I’ve never been an athlete.”
Nick is the father of 12 children, so Billy brought up Father’s Day and said, “Friends, it’s going to rain on you.”
Canon replied: Let’s see. I’ll let you know how it goes. ”
So what does he want? “A nice little nap…a macaroni necklace…a construction paper art. I’m with you all. So one of the things I’m blessed with is that I get a lot of love from my kids and my family. So whatever it is, I got more than I asked for, so I’m so grateful for all the love that will come on Father’s Day.”
And all the love for ‘Wild and Out’ season 20, ‘We didn’t aim for it to be a staple. Like Kevin Hart and Katt Williams, they’ll be returning home for Season 20 like mega-superstars. It’s a great round-the-clock moment. ”
Billy asked if he could take credit for Kevin Hart’s success. “I owe Kevin Hart credit,” he said. “I just put the flag on the ground…Without me you are nothing, heart…I am the pulsation of the heartbeat.”

He added, “But it’s funny because over 20 years ago we were two young manga artists trying to get it off the ground. We’ve been through a lot together, but you know, on our own merits, we’ve done some remarkable things in the entertainment space. And to be able to have friends like that, the entertainment is second to none, man… that’s why I love everything he does. I love the fact that I’ll find a little pie and come back.”
Nick said of what fans can expect from Season 20: “We’ve already talked about the brave people who joined us for Season 20, namely, Kevin’s return, Katt Williams. Katt Williams’ return is exciting…and then.” Many of the hottest young hip-hop artists in the game you grew up watching are also here. So it’s going to be a good time. ”
