Whitehall — Whitehall’s new restaurant offers pizza, calzones and family gametime.
Felicia Watson, owner of The Shack at 505 State Street, said people call it the Pizza Shack because the menu typically includes pizza, calzones and salads.
“We’re a small pizzeria and we have special menus from time to time,” Watson said. “We will have kebabs and brisket next week.
All products are made to order with fresh ingredients, and no frozen meat is used, Watson said.
“People say they eat with their eyes first,” she says. “I’m very picky. I try my best to tell people that I cook with love. We take pride in what we do. Almost everything is homemade.” ”
She said Watson opened The Shack because she wanted to offer dining options to her community. The building is so small that indoor dining is not possible, but people enjoy getting food and relaxing on the outdoor patio, Watson said.
“There’s really nothing around here,” said Mr. Watson. “I’m thrilled to be able to open something. It’s not a big deal. Just bring it out.”
In addition to food, Watson said there are also several games that families and children can play during and after meals.
With two ax-throwing stalls, a life-size Connect Four, and other board games, she said the goal is very family-friendly.
“We want families to bring their children and sit outside and play,” Watson said.
The Shack will also offer entertainment such as music and shows from time to time.
Watson said The Shack doesn’t serve alcohol, but beer is allowed.
The Shack has only been open for about three weeks, but she said it has received a lot of positive feedback.
“We had a lot of business,” Watson said. “Everyone says it’s fun, and I see posts about it. I’ve had people stop me at a gas station and tell me they love it.”
The Shack is open Monday through Friday from 11am to 2pm and 4pm to 8pm and Saturday from 2pm to 8pm. It is closed on Sundays.
