Since it’s Memorial Day weekend, many of us have an extra day off to hang out and relax around Milwaukee, and there are plenty of events to go along with it, including the Dan Jansen Family Festival and the IKEA Family Kite Festival.
If you want to relax and browse the strange items for sale, head to the Milwaukee Oddities & Curiosities Expo. Or kick back and enjoy a beer at Havenwoods Taproom and Beer Garden, which is celebrating its grand opening.
May 24: Havenwoods Taproom Grand Opening
After a successful soft opening earlier this month, Haven Woods Taproom & Beer Garden is ready to invite the public to their grand opening event. The cozy bar features both indoor and outdoor space, including a shipping container bar, a live music stage, a patio and picnic tables. The grand opening will feature: Next Paperback Hero There will also be a DJ and food will be provided by SapSap. May 24-26: Dan Jansen Family Festival
Now in its 29th year, the Dan Jansen Family Festival will host a Memorial Day weekend celebration to raise funds for the City of Greenfield Parks Department. The festival will feature live music, food, yoga, quizzes, movie screenings and other family-friendly activities. Smart Mouth, Cherry Pie and Doo-Wop Jukeboxand a delicious snack of Wisconsin Fried Cheese Curds. Dan Jansen Family Fest runs Friday through Sunday. The fest is closed on Monday, but Rainbow Valley Carnival Rides is open and offers a special $25 ride. Dan Jansen Family Fest takes place at Konkel Park. May 24: WMSE Presents: RadioRadio 15th Anniversary Sale
It’s time to wear leather pants, frilly shirts and bandanas – Milwaukee New Wave Group RadioRadio We’re celebrating our 15th anniversary with the help of WMSE. The night will feature music from January 1977 through to the 1980s, with acts such as The Cars, The Clash and The Cure to be heard. The show will take place at the Cooperage, DJ Paul H The evening begins at 7 p.m. Food will be provided through Taco Moto on the patio at Boone & Crockett. May 25: BikerFest Block Party
For the fifth year, Bikerfest will host a block party outside of Fiserv Forum, focusing on breaking down barriers in the biker community. The event welcomes riders of all interests and skill levels and will feature stunt shows, bike shows, interactive fun and more. Bikerfest will also feature live music and food throughout the day. May 25-26: IKEA Family Kite Festival
Gift of Wings celebrates its 37th anniversary with the IKEA Family Kite Festival at Veterans Park. Hundreds of kites will soar into the sky above Lake Michigan at the event, which begins at 10am. Get there early to see the spectacular launch of more than 600 kites at noon. The IKEA Family Kite Festival features performances by professional kite flyers, including one from Milwaukee. Mike Delfer and Paul KoepkeFamilies can take part in free kite flying lessons and the first 100 kids to take part in the Kids Mad Dash will receive a free kite. The IKEA Family Kite Festival will run from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday.
May 24-26: Milwaukee Curiosities Fair
Are you interested in oddities? The Milwaukee Oddities and Curiosities Expo brings together vendors, dealers, artists and small businesses from around the country to sell all things odd. You’ll find taxidermy, jewelry, skulls, trinkets and more. The expo takes place at the Baird Center. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.
