Recently, TikTok user @thumbs.up.canuck noticed that McDonald’s decided to open a new store near him. He was more confused than just excited, mainly because of the restaurant’s location.
“It’s literally in the middle of a field,” says the Quebec-based TikToker. “There’s fields all around, and there’s no electricity yet. They’re running an awful place on generators! It’s crazy!”
His video has been viewed more than 32,000 times as of Sunday.McDonald’s location can be found Located in Saint Francois, Laval, Quebec.
Immediately, TikTok users began shouting conspiracies in the comments section, saying McDonald’s headquarters in Canada must know something that everyone else doesn’t.
“Then you’ll know what happens,” the user said. “They weren’t going to put it there for free.”
“The apartment is coming soon,” said another.
A third agreed: “In two years’ time, we will be surrounded by strategically planned housing.”
“All the surrounding farms are about to be acquired and sold to developers,” another TikToker explained.
There are theories that the site could eventually become part of a major truck stop, but the general consensus seems to be that this is a strategic real estate move. Commenters claim that the area is likely to be developed in the near future. Therefore, McDonald’s purchased the property at a lower cost, anticipating an increase in traffic in the future.

“They’re thinking far ahead,” the commenter elaborated. “I remember watching 7/11 happen on the west side of Lubbock and wondering why so many people lived so close.”
That being said, many argued that isolated McDonald’s locations like this one were of better quality than other more centrally located locations.
“Best McDonald’s ever,” said a user.
“That’s the best McDonald’s. Always fresh,” wrote a second.
McDonald’s has been a popular topic on TikTok for a while now. Users took to the platform to lament the high prices, with one user claiming he paid $25 for three items. Others simply use his TikTok to show off new technology in stores, like the chain’s egg cooker, or to show people how to recreate famous McDonald’s dishes at home.
