K-dramas are taking the entertainment world by storm, inspiring millions around the world. In fact, K-drama thriller Squid Game Season 1 is currently the most-watched series on Netflix. Will Bloodhound fuel Netflix’s K-drama success?
Netflix officially announced the release date of K-drama “Bloodhound”. This eight-episode thriller of his will air on Friday, June 9, 2023. All episodes will be available for streaming on the same day. Formerly titled Hunting Dogs, Bloodhounds is a highly anticipated K-drama to join Netflix’s already star-studded list of K-dramas.
The massive streaming platform already has shows like “Squid Game,” “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha,” “All of Us Are Dead,” “Good Bad Mother,” and “Business Proposal.”
Bloodhounds is written and directed by Jason Kim, who has previously worked on shows for HBO and Fox. He was a consulting producer on the Netflix show Love (2018). So, technically, Bloodhounds marks Jason Kim’s Netflix author debut.
What is a Bloodhound? The core of the plot is pretty hidden, but the main plotline is about jumping into the private loan market to make money, but preying on the weak and needy, with a few major players. It revolves around three young people who encounter forces.

Bloodhounds has a great cast. We will see Woo Do Hwan as Kim Gun Woo. Woo Do Hwan has so far appeared in two Netflix K-dramas, ‘My Country: The New Age’ and ‘The King: Eternal Monarch’. In addition, Woo Do Hwan has appeared in ‘Mad Dog’, ‘Tempted’, and ‘Save me’.
Lee Sang Yi will play the role of Hong Woo Jin. Lee Sang Yi has previously starred in one of the most popular K-dramas on Netflix, Hometown Cha Cha Cha. He has also appeared in Prison Playbook and When the Camellia Blooms.
Jung Da-eun will play the lead role in ‘Bloodhound’. Her character’s name is still unknown.Prior to this, Jeong Dae-un appeared as a guest character in Netflix’s DP Season 1
Park Sung Woong will play the role of Kim Myung Gil in the drama. He has appeared in successful Korean dramas such as ‘She Is Wow!’, ‘Hidden Identity’ and ‘Remember: War of the Son’.
Huh Junho, who appeared in ‘Kingdom’ and ‘Designated Survivor: 60 Days’, will play the role of President Choi.
All in all, Jason Kim’s writing debut on Netflix seems to hold a lot of promise. We’ll have to wait until June 9th to see how it all unfolds.
