On the weekend of January 14, 2023, NBC Sports will Network updated logo And one with a feather motif.
The new Hallmark begins with a black background and wing shapes filled with imagery from specific sports and events, including the Olympics, which NBC has broadcast rights to.
The rest of Hallmark largely follows the same general theme — wing-shaped outlines zooming towards the camera, and sometimes bold colored outlines animated.
There is a final series of colored elements in the form of inlaid feathers, the last of which zooms the viewport to reveal a dark background with a monochrome 3D oversized peacock background and a yellow script “Sports ” enters next to a peacock with an updated logotype.
Notably, the peacock replaced the actual letters “NBC”. This is a different wordmark than the one previously used by NBC and is a lighter version of the custom font NBC Tinker.
The updated NBC logotype is set in a bolder version of Tinker.
When the animation sequence is played on screen, it mixes borrowed music and nat sounds from each event shown, often with clips to help identify what is being shown.
As the final logo enters, all audio fades out and a slightly muted version of the NBC chime plays.
NBC Sports’ previous feature, similar to the updated one’s approach, had the logo up front, followed by a series of clips culled from archive footage. Displayed in full screen.
There were occasional vertical yellow accents, and light burst effects were blended in as transitions and accents.
Unlike the new Hallmark, the old Hallmark featured natural sounds, music, and an announcer proudly declaring the network as the “home” of the sports and events depicted on the screen.
Later in 2022, the hallmarks will be updated to incorporate the respective league, association or team logo.
Another important difference is that the Peacock, USA, Golf Channel, and NBC logos were displayed in quick succession at the end of the animation. These are all reporting outlets created by the sports department.
All in all, the old Hallmark was starting to feel a little cluttered, with many logos and brands now directly visible, but the updated version is a perfect fit for many of the other NBC rollouts. It’s simplified and focused on what’s important, as is the updated branding. Branding elements such as colors and peacock-inspired shapes.
Shortly before that version of the sports hallmark, the network used a nearly identical version of the old NBC logo.
Like all networks, NBC Sports updates its features from time to time.
NBC previously began rolling out a new vanity card, “Curtain Razor,” with an updated logo before primetime shows and special non-sports presentations.
In late 2022, new NBC Peacocks will begin to appear with more widely spaced feathers, a more prominent “beak”, updated colors and no white outline.
Branding updates and logos will continue to roll out across the network and various related properties throughout 2023, according to NBC sources.
it has already been Appeared in network promotion And snipes, bugs, and even appeared in some of the sports graphics packages used in NFL coverage over the weekend.
However, it was not used in the bug that appears in the top right corner of NFL games.
