The arrival of pitchers and catchers marks the start of a new season, but that’s also when the injury is revealed. Unfortunately for the Nats, their top pitching outlook Travis Sykora is on the shelf.
General Manager Mike Rizzo announcement The 20-year-old right-hander will be out until May due to a hip injury. At least that’s not an arm injury, but this is a shame for Sikora, a rising star in the Nationals System. He was to be with the West Palm Beach team along with pitching prospect Jarlin Susana.
After being filmed in the third round of the 2023 draft, Sykora had an incredible season in 2024. Posted 2.33 ERA, 129 strikeout. 2025 was meant to be the year when Sikora took off and started shooting minor leagues.
Of course, it could still happen, but it’s now delayed. When he returns, he should start with High A. Wilmington. Aside from the set-off, this injury should not change your plan much. However, NAT needs to monitor their health more closely. In unorthodox delivery, Sykora was always at risk of injury, but at least his arm is fine.
Travis will soon return in May and dominate the batsmen like last season!
