Tokyo Disneyland has announced that its new castle projection mapping nighttime spectacle will be called “Reach for the Stars.”
“Reach for the Stars” Nighttime Spectacular
I first learned that a new projection show was in development when the music director Ron Colvard According to a statement on its website, Tokyo Disneyland announced the show in January. It will premiere on Friday, September 20, 2024. The show will feature “many of our beloved characters soaring into the night sky chasing their dreams.”
The show will feature both Iron Man and Captain Marvel, marking the first time Marvel characters will appear in Tokyo Disney Resort’s entertainment programming.
In addition to the superheroes, Reach for the Stars features Tinker Bell, Hercules and Pegasus, Dumbo, Carl Frederickson from Up, Aladdin and Jasmine, Wall-E and Eve, Baymax and Hiro, and Woody and Buzz Lightyear. The show’s name is a reference in part to Woody’s phrasal line, “Reach for the sky.”
The concept art shows the characters flying around Cinderella Castle, the icons lit up with colorful projections and fireworks.
Shared explanation Tokyo Disney Resort To read:
Beyond the distant sky,
There was a sparkling castle high up in the clouds.
It’s a dreamlike place filled with many stories.
Now, let yourself be carried away by the winds of freedom.
Spread the wings of your imagination,
And then let’s fly off into the world of dreams!
I have high expectations!
The 20-minute show is performed 1-2 times daily at Tokyo Disneyland and uses Disney Premier Access.
Colvard’s other Disney projects include “Disneyland Forever” and “World of Color One.” His website also lists a Hong Kong Disneyland 20th anniversary parade, but it has yet to be announced.
