MIDWAY — After some time away from event hosting, Rayma Stover is back in the business.
Stover and her daughter, Autumn Oliver, are building The Event Boutique of the Year next door to The Sprinkled Unicorn, a candy and specialty food retailer and paint party business that opened in October.・Opened “Midway.” The Sprinkled Unicorn is best known for its shaved ice in a variety of flavors.
“To be honest, events are a hobby of mine,” she said. “I’ve been doing events since I graduated high school, and she was also doing weddings for eight years before opening The Sprinkled Unicorn. I love doing events.”
Many may remember Mr. Stover as the former event coordinator at nearby Old Homeplace Vineyard.
The Event Boutique, located at 11212 Old US Highway 52 in Midway Manor Shopping Center, is targeted at people planning gatherings of 30 people or fewer. She said the space is perfect for bridal and baby showers, business team meetings, Bible studies and other small gatherings.
“When my daughters were little, I was always looking for a place for a bridal shower or baby shower,” she said. “There wasn’t much here to do that.”
Sprinkled Unicorn will continue to host adult and youth paint parties and children’s birthday parties in the backroom area, but the event boutique will be an adult event. Stover said she plans to become more involved in running the event boutique, while Oliver plans to focus on painting and children’s parties at Sprinkled Unicorn.
Clients can rent the event boutique for $50 per hour. This includes the use of chairs and tables. Customers can bring their own food or pay an additional fee for a full-service setup with food, drinks, and decorations. She recommended her Beverly’s Flowers & Gifts, about two buildings down, to buy linens and flowers.
“This location is also perfect for people who want to open a pop-up shop,” Stover said. “We’ve already hosted several pop-up shop events here. It’s great for vendors who make and sell things that don’t have a storefront. It gives them a storefront for the day.”
Stover plans to add a refrigerator, microwave and cooktop to the back room.
Anyone interested in renting the site can message Stover on the event space’s Facebook page or call (336) 837-8067.
“We hope this will be an affordable option for those looking to host small gatherings in our area,” she said. “We needed something like this in our community.”
