In less than two weeks, NBA superstar Devin Booker is back at Moss Point, retiring his No. 2 Tigers jersey with the Rafters.
Today Jamalis Brown, the next generation of great talent to come out of River City, uses the same gym on National Signing Day.
This morning, Brown took the honors with Ole Miss, becoming the second Mospoint player to sign with the Rebels in years, following wide receiver Larry Simmons.
What they call ‘JB’ is another four-star recruit who plays on both sides of the ball as a senior but heads to Oxford as a D lineman.
On offense, Brown had nearly 500 yards from scrimmage and scored 11 touchdowns. On defense, he led the team with his five sacks and his three forced fumbles.
Brown was also selected for the Mississippi Alabama All-Star Game and was poised to perform again at Oxford. “I’m just grateful and ready to start. They just said I’m a dog. They’re like family. You get up there. They’re just like at home.” I just listened to my coach and he took me there and he took me where I needed to be. You have to get dressed like you used to, Hotty Toddy!”
During his four-year career with the national team, Brown recorded a total of 293 tackles, 45 of which were lost, 13 forced fumbles, 7 recovered and 16 sacks.
