A mom who lost 87 pounds and transformed her body reveals the five things she did when starting her weight loss journey that helped her stay motivated.
Ana Zammit, 32, from Canada, has more than 39,000 followers on TikTok, where she details how she overhauled her diet and went from 235 pounds to 148 pounds in just one year. .
Known as a mindset coach, @a_a_o_o_o_o_o_recently shared tips on how to successfully start a weight loss program and stick with it.
“These are the five things I did to get started. I’m so grateful I did this,” she explained in the video’s caption.
Anna’s first piece of advice is to start your weight loss journey today instead of putting it off.

- Try it when you’re busy
- Invest in yourself, not the drive-thru
- It will take at least a year
- Take it one day at a time
“Don’t wait until Monday. How many times have you waited for Monday to start and actually won?” she asked.
With that in mind, she noted that you should also do it “when you’re busy.”
“If you wait for life to calm down, you’ll be waiting a long time. If you can get through the busy times, you can get through anything,” she explained.
Anna’s third tip was to invest in yourself “not the drive-thru.”
“How often do you order takeout?” How many times do you stop for coffee? How many times have you bought something and then realized you didn’t really need it? she asked.
“Instead of spending recklessly or unnecessarily on things, take the money you would have spent and put it in a jar and use it to invest in yourself.”
Anna went on to say that one of her favorite things she did when she started her weight loss journey was to “take out my timeline.”
“I stopped trying to lose weight within 3 months, or even within 6 months. I stopped focusing on the event of losing X amount of weight by [a certain time],’ she said.
“I’ve given myself at least a full year. If I focus on smaller, more achievable goals, I can keep doing it.”
Anna’s final advice was to “take everything one day at a time.”
“Don’t worry about next week. Focus on today, your next meal, your next workout and lose weight two pounds at a time,” she concluded.
Anna started losing weight in July 2022, three months after giving birth.
The mother started following Beachbody’s 2B Mindset nutrition program. This program uses the plate method to teach portion control and prevent mindless eating.
In a previous video, she explained that she found success with meal plans that help her reach her goals without counting calories or giving up her favorite foods.
Anna added that she tries to drink lots of water and do her favorite workouts, such as weightlifting, Pilates, yoga and cardio.
“Working out accelerates that process,” she noted.
“Anyone who tells you that just training will get you results is lying to you. Short and simple.
“Nutrition is so important. If you don’t like it and have the motivation to follow it, you’re going to struggle.”
