A 14-year-old American boy Walked off the Caribbean Princess cruise ship The ship, which was due to dock in a German port more than three days ago, has been found safe, her grandmother said Saturday.
Authorities said Aydin Brown had been on the cruise ship with his grandmother but disembarked after the ship docked in the port of Rostock-Warnemunde on Thursday morning.
State and local police released three new photos of the boy on Saturday as the search for the area continues, with two of the photos captured on security cameras showing an unidentified man who appears to be talking to Brown.
Rostock police said in an earlier statement that they wanted to speak to the man or anyone who could identify him.
Police said the pair were walking towards the church square in Warnemunde at around 7.45am on Thursday.
Princess Cruises expressed its gratitude to German authorities for finding the boy.
“We are pleased that Aydin Brown has been found safe,” the cruise line said in a statement Saturday. “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the German authorities for their swift response and extraordinary efforts to locate Aydin after he disembarked in Warnemuende last Thursday morning.”
The company said Brown had been reunited with his family.
Brown’s grandmother left the ship Thursday night, hours after the search for him began, and his mother flew to Germany, the cruise line said in a statement Friday.
“We understand the distress this situation has caused and will continue to provide on-site support to the family during this difficult time,” Princess Cruises said at the time.
