Michelle Randolph and Amina Nieves say goodbye to “1923” in the season 2 finale.
Jenny Taft from “Extra” spoke with Michelle and Amina who first responded to the penultimate episode in which seven people were killed, including Jack Dutton, Michelle’s character character Elizabeth Dutton.
Michelle said, “I was shocked. I think the biggest shock for me was Jack… I had to reread it several times.
“Everything is not a sense of security, it’s just devastating,” emphasized Randolph.
Michelle was also shocked by Amina’s storyline, saying, “I read the script and I was hoping for it, but watching it is different.”
Amina’s character Tena Rainwater has lost both her father running horses and the man she loves, Pete von Cloud.
Nieves said, “In my mind, that’s scary, but Taylor Sheridan has no mercy. Through everything you see, it is very much.
She added, “I’m hurting. ‘Dan, who’s going to do that? Is episode 7 this about this?”
Michelle also talks about the next thing that Elizabeth is pregnant with Jack’s child, “become a mother without your husband and come up with a way to do it.”
Randolph said, “I think Elizabeth is leaving the ranch. She’s a totally different person from the way she first came to the ranch, and I think she really came to herself. I think she’s Dutton now.
Randolph emphasized, “She’s Dutton. She’s going to the East Coast, but not too far.”
Amina said that Tena wanted to do it live live on another show, saying, “I dream of Teona’s long future days, but we’ll see if we can get it.”
Nieves took many lessons from her role and said, “Theonna gave me so much confidence in myself that it really reminded me of the power to use your voice for good.”
“So it reminds me of how important it is to sit with our elders, with the people who brought us here, to forgive and lead with a really good heart.
She continued, “If you keep defeating everything inside you, not being free, and you are obsessed with your own suffering, you will miss so many opportunities in this lifetime.”
Reflecting on what she learned to work with the iconic Helen Mirren, Mirren said, “She delivers me a lot of beautiful lines and seeing her find and take those moments in the scene, one of the hardest things to wrap around is that I hope I will work with Helen again.”
“She also really loves what she does, she’s on set and has a personality and loves being around the crew,” Michelle said. “I just found it so exciting and excited to be with her.”
Regarding what the audience feels about the final, Amina said, “I think people will be a little sh*tty, honestly.
Praise of Sheridan, Nieves explained: “That’s one of those things that Taylor knows how to do it, it’s how to write damn scripts, and that’s how people want more people. Episode 7 is definitely that. A lot of people are going to ask a lot of questions.
Michelle said, “Survival, devastation, [and] Tears to explain the finale,” Amina chose “Grimm, Survival, and the Unknown.”
