Isabella Strahan shared a special YouTube vlog this week, revealing that she’s cancer-free.
Strahan, the daughter of Michael Strahan and ex-husband Gene Magri, underwent surgery to remove a malignant brain tumor in October and has since undergone radiation therapy, chemotherapy and multiple brain surgeries.
The 19-year-old posted two new videos this week. In the first, “Road to Recovery,” the college student returns to Duke Children’s Hospital and Health Center in Durham, North Carolina, for surgery to remove her chemotherapy ports.
As she put on the crown and headed to the operating room, hospital staff cheered her on with pom-poms and bubbles.
She was surprised to have the port removed from her neck afterward, but said the incisions in her chest made it painful to laugh or move, and she also had an IV in her hand ready for an MRI the next day.
In a second video, titled “Goodbye Hospital,” she updated her followers on the progress of her recovery.
“My side hurts so much. It feels like I’ve been stabbed. I was like, ‘Oh, it doesn’t hurt that much.’ I think it’s because all the medicine has worn off… I can’t even stand up straight,” she said. “My heart started spasming so I also feel like I have tubes going into my heart. I don’t know if that’s supposed to happen… it’s not fun.”
Then she lifted her shirt to reveal her bandaged chest where the other port had been removed. “Here’s the incision,” she said. “It certainly doesn’t feel good.”
After an MRI and meeting with her doctor to review the scan results, Strahan shared her happy news: “The scan was fantastic. Everything was clear. No cancer found and everything is good. I don’t have my next appointment until October.”

Isabella added, “I already miss my doctors and everyone who helped me because they are all such sweet people. I love them so much and it just makes me sad today knowing that I won’t be back in the hospital for a while. So this is my last hospital vlog until October!”
She was enrolled at the University of Southern California when she got sick, and at the end of the video she told viewers, “I’m probably going to be vlogging about my return to college and a lot of other steps.”
In June, Isabella posted a video blog about her final chemotherapy treatment and her subsequent opportunity to ring the bell.
As she read the sign, she smiled and said, “Please ring the bell three times – this is to clearly indicate that your treatment is over, your course has finished, and you are about to go home!”
Isabella was in attendance for the memorable moment along with her parents and twin sister Sofia.
