Michael Keaton has been a household name for decades, but he’s going back to his roots!
Keaton plans to add his real name, Michael Douglas, to his stage name.
Michael would like to be credited as Michael Keaton Douglas in future projects.
Michael said he had hoped the recent film “Knox Goes Away” would bring about change, but “it’s been forgotten.”
In an interview people In an interview with the magazine, Michael said: “I said, ‘Just a little warning, my credit will be Michael Keaton Douglas,’ and then I completely forgot. I forgot to give them enough time to build it up, but that’s what’s going to happen.”
Keaton explained that, of course, he wasn’t allowed to use his birth name because SAG already had an actor named Michael Douglas, who went on to star in Romancing the Stone, Fatal Attraction and Basic Instinct.
The “Beetlejuice” star also couldn’t go by the name Mike Douglas because of the famous talk show host.
He chose Michael Keaton, who has stuck with him since appearing in “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” in the 1970s.
Michael explained: “I don’t remember if it was a phone book or not, but I was looking through it. I must have thought, ‘I don’t know. Let me think of something.’ And then I thought, ‘Yeah, that makes sense.'”
