The 10-day closure will begin Friday, May 3 at 10 p.m., and light rail trains will be replaced with bus service between Fort Snelling and Mall of America.
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Light rail riders may want to plan ahead if they’re heading to MSP International Airport or Mall of America in the next few days.
announced by Metro Transit. The southern section of the Metro Blue Line will be closed for 10 days. Due to maintenance, service will be running between Fort Snelling and Mall of America stations starting Friday, May 3 at 10 p.m. Buses will operate between Fort Snelling and the following six stations instead of trains.
- Terminal 1 – Airport
- Terminal 2 – Airport
- american boulevard
- bloomington central
- 30th street
- mall of america
However, travelers who use light rail to travel between MSP terminals need not worry. Metro Transit said shuttle train service between Terminals 1 and 2 will continue during the 10-day closure.
Commuters and travelers taking the light rail to downtown Minneapolis are encouraged to park at Fort Snelling Station during the closure.
Metro Transit says replacement bus service will follow train schedules as much as possible, but the agency cautions riders that timing and travel may be affected by transit and other conditions. .
Regular light rail service is scheduled to resume at 3 a.m. on Monday, May 13.
