According to the report, the students had planned the protest after seeing a photo on Facebook of their teacher holding a placard that read “I support Israel.” One student told the magazine that the students’ group chat talked about “starting a riot.”
Just after 11 a.m. Monday, hundreds of teenagers poured into the hallway, screaming and waving Palestinian flags as a teacher yelled, “We have to go,” the report said. Part of the incident was captured on video. Posted on TikTok.
The teacher, whose name has not been released, has worked in city schools for 23 years and has taught at Hillcrest for the past seven years. She told the Post that the calls for violence online and in the hallways outside the classrooms left her “shaken to the core.”
“No one should feel unsafe at school, neither students nor teachers,” the teacher said.

Adams said New York City Public Schools has launched a full investigation into how the incident happened. He also said the Project Pivot team will begin outreach efforts to Hillcrest students this week to “make sure they understand why this behavior is unacceptable.”
“Students, teachers and staff should not have to worry about their safety inside our schools,” the mayor said.
