As Hollywood mourns the death of Friends star Matthew Perry at age 54, Extra reveals new details about how he felt the day he died.
Perry, an avid pickleball player, enjoyed a game on Saturday and then went home to soak in the hot tub. He was found unresponsive within hours and may have drowned. The results of his autopsy are “inconclusive” pending a toxicology report.

“Extra’s” Billy Bush spoke to a woman he hung out with that day. She reveals to Billy that she is still in shock and that she loves Matthew. She also said he was a little more “tired” than usual that morning and over the past week.

Billy also spoke with Matt Manas. “Pickleball Coach to the Stars” Matt was Matthew’s pickleball coach and friend.
Matt said of Perry, “He was a genuine, caring, good guy.” “Unpretentious, kind and competitive, he loved playing pickleball. Even before he discovered pickleball, he was a great tennis player. Pickleball was something he discovered years ago to help with his recovery. He fell in love with it.”
He went on to say, “That was his healthy addiction.”
Matt said of Starr, “He would get the shirt off his back. He would bring other people to court and try to help them overcome their addictions…He had a heart of gold. It…made your day better.” .. His sense of humor and comedic timing were genius. ”

Billy commented on Matthew’s memoir and his audiobook, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Scary Thing: A Memoir,” saying that there’s also sadness in it, and a sense that he’s always fighting something.
“It was very important for him to talk about what he was struggling with and his addiction. He wanted to help people with that…He wanted love – that was for him That was important…The way he talked about his friends, you could tell he was a caring man…He cared deeply about the people who cared about him.”
“He was really happy on the pickleball court and he was happy around his friends, and I think that gave him a lot of joy,” Matt said.
Matt also recalled his last interaction with Perry, saying: [so] i sent [a Batman picture] And he thought it was cool. ”

Apparently still touched by the impact Perry had on him, Matt told ‘Extra’, “He’s just a special person…when he calls you or sends you an email. You were happy then.”
The cause of Perry’s death is under investigation, but there are no signs of foul play and no illegal drugs were found at the scene.
