Mary J. Blige spoke to “Extra’s” Carlos Grier, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2024 in Cleveland, Ohio.
She said of the honor, “This is the greatest honor because people admire you in so many ways, not just your music. I admire how it changed my life.”
Mary explained: “Right now I’m just excited and overwhelmed by this moment… All the hard work and everything I’ve had to endure to get here and how much the fans have been with me and carried me.” I didn’t get here by doing everything right. I got here by lying on my stomach and getting up.”
Mary also talked about her new music, saying her song “You Ain’t the Only One” is about connection.
Despite her “rock star” status, she said, “I still understand what you’re going through, and I want to see you and touch your life and touch you in some way.” If I can sing a song that can help,” he explained. [to know] You’re not alone, that’s basically what this song is saying. ”
Mary has released another single on Fabolous, “Breathing,” and the album is scheduled for release on November 15th.
“I have an album coming out,” she said, “It’s called ‘Gratitude,’ and I’m filled with that feeling. I’m able to walk in love and seek peace. I’m so grateful. I’m not perfect, but I’m moving in the right direction.”
The artist, who is heading to tour, said he is most looking forward to seeing the stage design “come to fruition” and, of course, the fans as well.
“That’s what I love, what the fans create,” she said.
Speaking about her iconic thigh-high boots, Mary said: It’s just something I loved. ”
Blige has partnered with Giuseppe Zanotti on boots in the past and has just teamed up again for a new pair.
“We’re going to be releasing winter white thigh-highs that just got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So they’re on display over there, they’re history, and they’re coming soon.”
She added of the collaboration: “It’s a blessing, a huge blessing, and I’m so grateful to be his partner.”
She also spoke passionately about being in love, telling Carlos: “Love comes from within, and if you have love for yourself, you will attract someone who is really, really into you!”
