Greene twice tried to bring articles of impeachment to a vote in November. They were referred to a committee for the first time, avoiding an actual vote. She was persuaded to retract a second time after being assured that the article would pass the committee process.
Articles of impeachment are likely to be introduced by a party-line committee on Tuesday. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) then promised to hold a vote in the full House “as soon as possible.”
Greene predicted the articles of impeachment would pass the House along party lines, even with Republicans holding a slim majority and no Democratic support.

“Given the circumstances as dire as this…you would think all Democrats, or at least some Democrats, would vote for this, but unfortunately, I don’t think you’ll see any Democrats vote for this. ” said Ms. Green.
An adviser to the House Republican leadership acknowledged that Greene pushed the impeachment resolution to the floor and argued that “she deserves a lot of credit.”
“Let’s be clear: Mr. Mayorkas’ impeachment will not happen unless MTG inflames the Republican leadership,” the adviser told Fox News Digital.

Democrats have accused House Republicans of politicizing the border crisis, including by impeaching Mayorkas.
Mayorkas’ defenders have repeatedly pointed out that he is participating in bipartisan talks in the Senate on border security compromises.

But House Republicans have criticized those talks, arguing that the resulting agreement likely won’t go far enough. They have also expressed growing skepticism, particularly about Mr. Mayorkas’ role, arguing that he cannot be part of a legitimate solution.
