Mandy Baum has had a lot to say after her win over Ji-young Kim at UFC Fight Night Charlotte. In an exclusive interview with WMMA Rankings, Bohm shared his thoughts on the situation and Kim’s actions during the match.
Bohm said earlier that he was embarrassed by Kim’s behavior throughout game week. “From my side, I have no bad feelings towards Kim Ji Young. She’s been acting a little aggressive over the past few days. She doesn’t know what her problem was, but it’s a fact.It started before the game and continued at the weigh-in”
During the match, Bohm was subjected to multiple illegal techniques by Kim, which Bohm believes were intentional. “She taught me multiple illegal techniques. I think she did it knowingly.she would have seen what she did during the second round break”
The illegal technique made Baum’s eyes blurry and made it impossible to continue the fight. “After receiving an illegal knee shot to the head, my left eye was blurry and I couldn’t see anything. It was like she was swimming. It was a moment when I couldn’t continue fighting because I didn’t know what had happened. It wasn’t a knockout, but the doctor stopped the fight because he was blind in his left eye, and the decision was a split decision.”
Bohm expressed disappointment with the outcome of the battle, stating that no one wanted it to end like this. “No one wanted the fight to end like that, so I’m not happy about it.”
Additionally, Bohm expressed dissatisfaction with Kim’s behavior leading up to the match and how it affected her overall experience. “Normally I can have fun, have fun and feel good, but she took all of that from me. I have no idea what her problem is. She never spoke to me. We’ve been training next to each other at PI, but the fight was canceled in February when I was really sick. However, we have decided on a new game date. So I didn’t go and apologize to her for making her sick. Because her manager should have told her what happened. I’m confused. Normally Zee is a very nice girl, but she made it personal.“
Bohm concluded by saying he could not understand why Kim acted the way he did during the match and that it was unnecessary. “I don’t understand why Octagon behaves like this. Why do you do something illegal when you’re in a fight?it is not necessary”
Despite the drama and controversy surrounding the fight, Bohm managed to earn his first win in the UFC. But it remains to be seen what impact Kim’s actions will have and what her next steps will be after five straight losses.
