Kuala Lumpur: According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DoSM), Malaysian natural rubber (NR) production in November 2022 fell 8% year-on-year from 30,493 tons in the same month last year to 28,048 tons.
In today’s statement, Chief Statistician Dr. Datuk Seri Dr. Mohd Uzir Mahiddin said that NR production in November 2022 will mainly come from the smallholder sector (87.2%), while the plantation sector (12.8%) will said to have contributed
He said NR production in November 2022 fell 11.8% to 28,048 tons m/m (mother) from 31,795 tons in October 2022.
“NR’s total stocks fell by 1.4% to 195,353 tonnes in November, with rubber processors accounting for 90.4% of stocks,” he said.
According to DoSM, Malaysia’s exports of NR will increase by 23% to 51,104 tonnes in November 2022, with China remaining the main export destination, accounting for 54.3% of total shipments, followed by the United States (3.6%), Germany (2.8%), Turkey (2.2%), Brazil (1.8%).
“Gloves were the leading export of rubber-based products worth RM1.1 billion in November 2022,” it said.
On the other hand, an analysis of average monthly prices in November 2022 showed that latex concentrate recorded an increase of 1.3 percent from 466.42 sen/kg in October 2022, recording 472.58 sen/kg, while scrap rubber decreased by 5.9% from the previous month to 443.36 yen/kg.
