Anthony Ciccone, the oldest of superstar Madonna’s seven siblings, died Friday at the age of 66.
Musician Joe Henry, who is married to Madonna’s sister Melanie, I posted the news on Instagram on Saturday“My brother-in-law, Anthony Gerard Ciccone, stepped off this ground plane last night. I’ve known him since I was 15. In the spring of our lives in Michigan, Many years have passed.”
Referring to an early portrait he shared, Henry continued, “As his brother Dave Henry (who took this photo) points out here, Anthony was a complex character; And God knows: As true brothers can be, we were tangled for a moment.But I loved him.I knew him well.But the troubles faded away and the family Remains. Reach across the table. Farewell, Brother Anthony. I want to consider your blessed mother (and mine) to be God. She will be there waiting to greet you. At least today, no one can deter me from this vision.
Ciccone’s mother, Madonna Ciccone, died of breast cancer in 1963 at the age of 33.
Anthony has long struggled with alcoholism, and more than a decade ago he publicly reported that he had lived under a bridge in Michigan for years and that his family had given up on helping him. It was
2017, The Daily Mail report Anthony has successfully completed some sort of rehabilitation program and is back home with his family.
Anthony had previously attacked Madonna, 64, and his family for not receiving support, but Madonna reached out to him in a variety of ways, asking him to return to rehab in Texas along his journey to recovery. It is reported that he paid for the period.
Anthony is Madonna’s only sibling to die. Her father and her stepmother are also still alive.
