kuala lumpur: Local institutional investors had net bought RM278.3 million in Bursa Malaysia last week, according to MIDF Research.
In its fund flow report for the week ending June 30, 2023, the research firm said domestic institutional investors were net buyers of domestic stocks in 20 of the 26 weeks, with total net inflows of RM3.73 billion. Stated.
Local retailers also turned net after last week’s net purchases of domestic stocks worth ringgit 81.6 million, the newspaper said.
“Year-to-date, local retailers have been net buyers in 14 out of 26 weeks. Year-to-date total net purchases reached RM463.2 million,” MIDF Research said. Stated.
The research firm also said foreign investors continued to sell Bursa Malaysia net for the 11th straight week, with net overseas outflows reaching -359.9 million ringgit.
“Foreign investors were sellers in 20 of the 26 weeks this year, with total overseas net outflows of -4.19 billion ringgit,” MIDF Research said.
The top three sectors recording net foreign inflows were construction (RM71.9 million), real estate (RM16.4 million) and transportation and logistics (RM6.2 million).
Meanwhile, the top three sectors for net outflows were financial services (-136.5 million ringgit), industrial goods and services (-86 million ringgit) and technology (-72.9 million ringgit).
In terms of participation, average daily trading volume decreased by retailers (-2.0%) and domestic institutions (-7.3%), but increased by foreign investors (+3.7%). – Bernama
