The loss felt when Liam Payne died is still echoing throughout the music industry, with the singer receiving a heartfelt tribute at Saturday’s BRIT Awards in London.
Towards the end of the ceremony, host Jack Whitehall, the 45th annual installment, led the room in honor of “so many special people in this room, and so many special people for the millions of people around the world.”
“Last October, we were woken up to the devastating news that Liam Payne had tragically passed away,” he said of One Direction, a former member of 31-year-old. “He achieved so much in a short time and because he was on this earth, he was not only a very talented musician, but an incredibly kind soul that touched the lives of everyone he had contact with. Here in Britt, there are so many amazing memories of Liam, so I celebrate his legacy tonight, look back and remember the incredible Liam Payne.”

The show aired a highly emotional video montage featuring images of Payne throughout his life and career. The song was played in one direction “little things.”
In addition to the emotions of the moment, Whitehall was Payne’s personal friend.

Payne passed away on October 16th in Buenos Aires. Two men allegedly selling drugs to him are being held to face trial. The results of toxicology revealed a shocking combination of alcohol, cola and prescription drugs in his system.
