At Leftovers, we highlight some of the product ideas that pop up here and there. Some are interesting, some sound great, and some are types of ideas we wouldn’t even dream of. I can’t write about everything that has been sent to me. So here are some remaining excerpts from my inbox.
Icee terrorizes the Ghostbusters
Frozen beverage company Icee is turning to movie classics for its latest release.

The Ghostbusters lineup of Icee flavors also includes reimagined fan favorite flavors Boo Raspberry and Red 1/Cherry 1, as well as the tangy Slimer’s Back. The release will coincide with the latest film in the series, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empireopens in theaters this weekend.
Every year, Icee is aiming to release at least two limited-time flavors.

Limited-time flavors are proving increasingly popular as a way for companies to generate interest and discussion about their products, especially among younger consumers who are active on social media.
Icee was founded in 1967 and has since introduced more than 150 flavors of carbonated beverages. The brand, owned by Dippin’ Dots and SuperPretzel owner J&J Snack Foods, says it has about 30 flavors in rotation at any given time, with blue raspberry and cherry being staples in the lineup.

Bob’s Red Mill launches shortcut to homemade bread
The key to Bob’s Red Mill’s growth since its inception has been through innovation, and the flour maker just launched a range of new baking mixes to help creative home bakers express themselves.
Bob’s Signature Blend Baking Mix is made with Bob’s Red Mill’s blend of premium flours and is intended to bring homemade baking to “perfection,” the company says.
“These mixes make it easy for home bakers to create homemade-tasting baked goods without sacrificing flavor, texture or quality,” said Blake Isaac, director of innovation marketing at Bob’s Red Mill. says.
The new blends come in four flavors: Fudgy Brownie, Golden Cornbread, Classic Yellow, and Decadent Chocolate. The company says they are designed to be transformed into all kinds of cakes, breads and cupcakes.
When Bob Moore and his wife Charlie founded the company in 1978, they focused on making wholesome whole grain ingredients available to the masses. The company is 100% owned by his employees and has leveraged Moore’s personality in many parts of its marketing. He recently passed away at the age of 94 at his home in Milwaukee, Oregon.
Early last year, the company hired Porter Long, a Chobani veteran who was highly influential in the Flip program, to lead research and development for the yogurt maker.
Bob’s Red Mill has recently benefited from a shift in consumer demand for whole ingredients over processed foods, especially grains.

MariMed uses cannabis and electrolytes to address thirst and concentration
As cannabis-infused beverages and hydration drinks grow in popularity, one company believes its drink mix can deliver the best of both worlds.
Marimed has launched a new line of vibrating drink mixes that contain both electrolytes and cannabis to “boost focus and energy.”

Tropical Punch and Lemon Lime (the latter contains no sugar) are infused with THCV, the energizing cannabinoid, the brand said.of Brings out more THCV than THC It has no psychoactive effects when taken in low doses, meaning it doesn’t cause a significant high.
Marimed says Berry Chamomile Tea, which also has no sugar, contains the cannabinoid CBN, which promotes restful sleep.
New flavors join the existing lineup: Strawberry Lemonade, Peach Tangerine Tea, Iced Tea Lemonade and Pomegranate Blueberry Acai (the latter contains no sugar). These products also contain guarana, which contains energy-boosting caffeine. Newly released flavors do not contain this ingredient.
“Our research shows that cannabis consumers looking for infused cannabis beverage products that combine all the benefits of the plant with hydrating electrolytes to boost focus and energy,” said Jay O’Malley, MariMed’s vice president of marketing. “This shows that the population is growing rapidly.” R&D said in a statement.
O’Malley said in a press release that the company’s new formula contains patented technology that “increases bioavailability” and provides lasting effects 15 minutes after ingestion.
Hydration mix companies such as Liquid IV and Coca-Cola’s BodyArmor Flash IV are becoming increasingly successful as more consumers look to quench their thirst. And in the cannabis space, companies are finding new ways to infuse drinks with THC, like Curaleaf’s Zero Proof Squeeze beverage enhancer. The product was launched last year and contains 2.5mg of THC per squeeze.
