Eighteen years ago, Casey Council Geha was new to real estate and eager to make a mark for herself in the highly competitive Bay Area. With his license in hand, Council Geha knew he needed more training to succeed, so he signed up for a class with Rick Geha, a top producer, speaker, trainer, and coach with deep roots in the industry.
“I remember walking out of class that day and calling my mom and sister and saying, ‘I just met Sean Connery, the Jesus Christ of real estate,'” she said with a laugh.
Council-Geha took several other classes from Geha over the next three years. However, their relationship did not start until 2008.
“I had been pursuing him to discuss attending personal development training and we finally got to talk on April 28, 2008,” she said. “He thought I was being paid to attend this training, but I wasn’t being paid.”
“When he said, ‘Why me?'” she added. “My answer to him was, ‘You look much bigger than you see yourself.'”
The training session marked Councilman Geha’s first date with Geha and the beginning of a 16-year “fairy tale” that ended abruptly when Geha, 66, suddenly passed away earlier this month.
“What was unique about Rick and I was that we were partners in every aspect of life and always supported each other,” she said. “The thing I’ll miss the most is…you know…oh. We had a love that was so unique and special.”
“I’m going to put a little something on his table that sums up that feeling. It says, ‘Sometimes in the middle of ordinary life, love comes along and brings us a fairy tale.’ ” she added.
Councilor Geha said the weeks after Geha’s death were a blur, but she took comfort in knowing her husband died doing what he loved with his loved ones.
Just a week before his death, Geha’s eldest son Anthony went to eXpCON for the first time with his father. Mr. Geha has been with the brokerage since 2017 and has won the ICON Production Award every year since then. This award is respected by thousands of his eXp agents around the world.
Council Geha said this was a dream come true for her husband, who had long wanted to work with his son on the Rick Geha team.
“The big thing that was happening in his career, having been in real estate sales for 43 years, was that his oldest son had a desire to learn the business and work with him,” she said. “Rick was walking on a cloud, introducing everyone to his son and daughter-in-law and 8-month-old grandson Roman,” she added. “Anthony, who was on that trip, said, ‘Wow, I had no idea how big of a deal my dad actually was.'”
Councilor Mr. Geha said 2023 was a dream year for Mr. Geha, who enjoyed reaching new heights in business and becoming the first Jido, which means grandfather in Lebanese. said. He also fulfilled a 56-year-old dream of training with his sons Anthony and Joe for a week at a fantasy camp with the Oakland Athletics.
“Rick was a great man with boundless energy,” she said. “He was talking to his goddaughter’s mother, and this was one of the things she told me about her conversation with her mother the day before.” [he passed]It was as if he was at the peak of his life. ”
“Yeah, [he] He was very proud of his two sons. Business was going well. Life was going well. He felt great,” she added. “We had been together for almost 16 years and life was firing on all cylinders. He was happy, not stressed. He was at peace and, in her words, Rick It was the “best” I’ve ever seen. ”
Councilor Geha said the family is preparing for the Celebration of Life service on October 29th, with more than 1,300 people from as far away as Europe signing up to attend. The same number of participants are scheduled Via Twitch Live Stream.
“There’s one common theme everyone has to say about Rick: When he talked to you, you were the only one in the room. You were like his best friend.” she said. “I think that sums up who he is. He literally touched people and helped people all over the world.”
“I’m recording a video [eXp World Holdings founder] Glenn Sanford. He was talking about Rick last week and Rick embodies leadership, and that leadership is striving to be a leader yourself and then going out and playing the big game to help other people. “I said,” she added. “That’s what he was.”
Councilor Geha said her family is dedicated to keeping Geha’s memory alive and one of the first steps is to $100,000 GoFundMe donation to Oakland A’s Make-A-Wish Community Fund. As of Oct. 27, the family has raised $9,708.
“I think he’ll be overjoyed,” she said. “Rick emcees charity events for local charities around the Fremont and Newark areas where he grew up. He definitely strives to give back and make an impact in the community. He was a person.”
Councilor Geha said Geha’s death was “too soon” but said she was grateful for the years they spent together.
“We’ve had the full spectrum. We’ve been through the lowest lows, the highest highs together, and completely reinvented our business, our lives, and ourselves over the past 16 years together,” she said. said. “We did it together.”
