Learn more about the thrilling matchups and the point-based system that determines playoff contenders.
Larissa Pacheco, Marina Moknatkina, Amber Liebrock and Olena Kolesnik have emerged as the top four featherweights advancing to the PFL playoffs. Unfortunately for Aspen Rudd, an impressive win in PFL 5 wasn’t enough to secure a playoff spot due to the season format and points system used by the Pro Fighters League.
The PFL regular season employs a points-based system that rewards fighters based on their performance. A decision win awards a fighter 3 points, and 3 round knockouts or submissions award 4 points. A knockout or submission in the second round adds a total of 5 points, and a knockout or submission in the first round gives him 6 points. These points are accumulated from previous battles and combined with the results of the current event.
Larissa Pacheco once again showed her dominance, scoring a total of 9 points to secure a place in the playoffs. Pacheco, who had three points in her last win over Julia Budd, added six more with Amber Liebrock’s sensational first-round TKO win.
Marina Moknatkina showed her skill and resilience, scoring a total of 8 points. She entered the PFL 5 with five points after a second-round suspension against Yoko Higashi in her previous match, and added three points with a decision win over Evelyn Martins.
Amber Liebrock knocked out Martina Jindrova with a headkick at the last event, earning six points and securing a spot in the top four. Despite losing to Larissa Pacheco in the opening game of PFL 5, Liebrock secured a place in the playoffs with an earlier win.
Olena Koreznik secured a place in the playoffs with five goals. He should have scored 3 points in the previous game with a decision victory over Aspen Rudd, but was deducted 1 point due to his lack of weight. In PFL 5, Kolesnik added three points to her points total with a decision win over Yoko Higashi.
In the PFL playoffs scheduled for August, the four featherweights will face each other in two matches. The winners of these battles will advance to the finals later this year, competing for a final prize of $1 million.
