At least two people died and dozens went missing in a landslide in the southern Brazilian state of Parana on Wednesday, officials said.
Landslides following heavy rains have affected Brazil’s BR-376 highway, CNNE reports. Authorities believe he fell on a 200-meter (656-foot) section of highway, causing mud to bury his six trailers and up to 15 vehicles on the highway.
A fire department representative told local media that he estimated between 30 and 50 people could be missing.
The representative added that military police, firefighters, civil defense teams and rescue dogs are assisting in rescue efforts and clearing the embankment.
Heavy rains also caused floods and flash floods in other coastal municipalities.
According to official figures, 680 people were affected and more than 500 houses were damaged or partially destroyed.
