Kodiak also announced the hiring of Sonali Dalvi as vice president of product development, a newly created position at the Utah-based company. Both Katzenberger and Sonali will report to Kodiak CEO Val Oswalt. Oswalt was hired from Campbell Soup in 2022 to replace co-founder and CEO Joel Clark.
Dalvi has previous experience leading research and development for companies such as Olam Food Materials, PureCircle, PepsiCo, and Quaker Foods. Kodiak said she would be a “powerhouse of new innovation” and bring “rich opportunities” to her brand.
Kodiak traces its roots In the early 1980s, the family’s pancake recipe was packaged in brown paper lunch bags and sold to the people of Salt Lake City from the back of a red wagon. Since then, the company has expanded its product offerings by entering frozen waffles, oatmeal, baking mixes, and a variety of snack products. L. Catterton bought a majority stake in fast-growing Kodiak in 2021 for an undisclosed amount.
