“I went to a special effects makeup artist and asked him to create a prosthetic disguise for me,” Bacon told the outlet.
Geared up and unidentified, he made his way to The Grove, one of Los Angeles’ most visited and populated commercial centers, and was elated to discover that “no one recognized him.”
Admittedly, he was excited at first, but the excitement quickly faded.
“People were pushing past me and they weren’t nice. Nobody said ‘I love you’. I had to queue to get a coffee or whatever,” Bacon said, appearing embarrassed. “I was like, ‘This is the worst. I want to be famous again.'”
Known for his talent for playing characters that range from incredibly likable (see: Tremors, Apollo 13) to incredibly evil (see: Sleepers, River Wild), Bacon once again takes on the villain role in these two new films.
He told Vanity Fair that as an actor he has never shied away from taking on darker roles: “That’s what acting is about. I’ve never worried about what people think of me. The job is to become someone else, to be part of the story.”
“I don’t need someone to go to the movies and love me,” Bacon added. “If I go to a movie like ‘My Mom is the Best’ or ‘Beverly Hills Cop 2: Axel F’ and I die and you stand up and cheer, I’m like, ‘Great. That’s my job. That’s what I want.'”
