Kenya Airways recently launched the Asante Rewards Frequent Flyer Program. Previously, the company used Air France KLM Flying Blue as its loyalty program, but recently decided to launch its own program. One interesting thing to note is that Kenya Airways seems to have an immediate status match opportunity.
Status match for SkyTeam Elite or Elite Plus status
travel deals Kenya Airways Asante Rewards reports status match opportunities are wide open at this time (thanks YHBU to flag this). This isn’t just for Flying Blue elite members, it appears to match status with many airlines, from Qatar Airways Privilege Club to United MileagePlus (i.e. Southwest and Spirit I can’t guarantee that it will happen)) I agree, but…).
How does this status match work?
- Register for Kenya Airways Asante Rewards at this linkClick and select the Full Registration option.
- Then email the program to: [email protected]Include a photo or screenshot (in JPG or PDF format) of your existing frequent flyer card, your Asante Rewards frequent flyer number, and a brief note on how and why you would like to be status matched.that
- Then wait for a response. Reports show that we often get matches within hours, but of course that can change as the volume of requests increases.
We would like to emphasize that this is not a public promotion for all programs and this opportunity may be withdrawn at some point. However, it seems possible for the time being.
According to reports, status matches are valid for 12 months, so if you match now, they will be valid until August 2024. Status Matches are available for all tiers, including Asante Rewards Platinum, the highest level of the program.
If this status match opportunity is worth it
Should you consider Kenya Airways Status Match? Of course, if you fly Kenya Airways frequently, there can be great benefits. However, even if you don’t, you may still find this worthwhile.
Achieving a status match with Asante Rewards Gold or Platinum status will earn SkyTeam Elite Plus status. Theoretically, this could include business class lounge access, priority check-in, priority security, priority boarding, extra baggage allowance, priority seating, etc. on international itineraries when flying with SkyTeam member airlines. , offers considerable mutual benefits. You can read my complete guide to SkyTeam Elite Plus status here.
So why would you say you get these benefits ‘in theory’? Yes, Kenya Airways is part of SkyTeam, but it appears that the program is not yet fully integrated into the alliance. Currently, we have seen many reports that many other SkyTeam airlines do not even accept Kenya Airways frequent flyer numbers.
These benefits may not be available if other programs do not accept Kenya Airways frequent flyer numbers. No one knows when that will change.
Hope that happens soon. Again, ITA Airlines said he joined SkyTeam over a year ago, but reciprocal redemption is still not possible for most of SkyTeam’s programs.
Why is SkyTeam so lazy when oneworld and Star Alliance update this overnight? It’s all so strange…
Conclusion
At the moment, Kenya Airways’ Asante Rewards program offers status match opportunities and appears to be open to virtually all airline elite flyers. The process is easy and approval seems to come quickly.
Kenya Airways is a member of SkyTeam, making it an easy path to SkyTeam Elite Plus status. The problem is that many SkyTeam airlines appear to have yet to update their systems to reflect Kenya Airways’ new frequent flyer programme, and no one knows when that will be.
Are you planning to take advantage of this Kenya Airways status match?
